The Capitol Hill Art League will host its annual Washington Metropolitan region-wide art competition show on Saturday, March 8th at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop located at 545 Seventh Street SE Washington, DC  20003.  The Arts Workshop is located three blocks south of Eastern Market.

These artists represent a wide range of styles in painting, photography, glass and sculpture. Their work will be on display through April 17th with an opening reception on March 8th from 5:00-7:00 pm.  Juror, Catriona Fraser will discuss her selections and announce the winners of cash awards.

Catriona Fraser is the owner and Director of the Fraser Gallery, founded in 1996, and is a well-known advocate and supporter of D.C area artists. Ms. Fraser serves on the Boards of the Washington School of Photography and the Capitol Arts Network. Ms. Fraser has served as President of the Art Dealers Association of Greater Washington and on the Advisory Panel for the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County. Ms. Fraser is Chair of the Trawick Art Prize and the Bethesda Painting Awards, annual competitions that award $14,000 in prize money to artists resident in DC, Virginia or Maryland.  Ms. Fraser also serves as the Director of the annual Bethesda Fine Arts Festival, a two-day outdoor event that includes the work of 140 artists and attracts 20,000 attendees to downtown Bethesda.

CHAL is a program of the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop’s (CHAW’s) is a community-based, not-for-profit organization founded in 1972. The Workshop facility includes a dance studio paint studio, black box theater, art gallery, complete ceramics/pottery studio, a photography darkroom (the only “open” darkroom in D.C.), and private music instruction studios. Arts Workshop representatives will be present to provide information on their art programs for children and adults.
