Artist Talk: Tuesday, July 8 at 7pm

.

Expanding on his series of drawing machines and kinetic sculptures, Billy Friebele translates the bustle of the U Street corridor into sound and abstract images in his current exhibition U Street Chromatic (for Duke), on view at Hamiltonian Gallery through August 2nd.

With the intention of making the invisible motions and rhythmic patterns of everyday life visible, Friebele will discuss the many different influences, from Balinese Gamelan music to Duke Ellington’s improvisational style, on his artistic practice.

There will also be a live-demo of Friebele’s newest sonar powered, interactive drawing machine.

Gallery Hours:

  • Tuesday – Saturday: 12 pm to 6 pm

Hamiltonian Gallery is located at 1353 U Street, NW. For more information call 202.332.1116 or visit www.hamiltoniangallery.com.
