Artist Talk: Wednesday, December 16 from 7pm to 8pm
Dan Steinhilber reminisces about his 2010 experience with WPA as the first artist in residence at Socrates Sculpture Park and discusses his inspiration behind his liquid landscape.
Recently honored by the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden for his “significant and lasting contribution to modern and contemporary art,” Dan Steinhilber was the first artist sponsored by WPA in a residency at Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City, NY. He will reminisce about that summer of ‘10 experience as well as discussing the “liquid landscape” he created for the WPA opening.
About the Artist
Dan Steinhilber (b. 1972) was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, but he has been a Washington, DC resident since 2000. Steinhilber received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Wisconsin in 1994. He earned his Master of Fine Arts from American University, Washington DC, in 2002. Since residing in the District he has exhibited across the nation and has had work featured in the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.
