Prince Georges’ Brentwood Arts Exchange is seeking a new gallery assistant. The position is part time, mostly doing customer service and helping with administrative tasks. A strong candidate would have a background that would assist the instructor for their classes for adults with mental disabilities – not necessarily teaching experience – just the right personality to be comfortable working with people of a wide range of mental abilities. Art maintenance and art handling skills are also desirable, along with a cheerful, positive attitude and good communication skills.
The center is also seeking a qualified teacher for Spring Break and potentially also Summer Camps. The applicant will need to be able to develop the lesson plans and lead instruction in art for 6-12 year olds. They will work with an assistant instructor in a class of 15 students. (The assistant may or may not be the same person as the gallery assistant.) Classes are during PG County Schools spring break, April 1-5, 9am – 4:30pm. The position has the potential to lead to teaching summer camps.
