The Brentwood Arts Exchange announces a call for entries for its first show of youth artists, Express Yourself!, on display in the gallery from June 25 – August 10, 2012. Open to young artists ages 13-18 with a passion for creating visual art, the Brentwood Arts Exchange invites teens living or attending school in Prince George’s County, Montgomery County, Fairfax County, Fairfax City, the City of Alexandria, the City of Arlington and the District of Columbia to submit one original artwork in any media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, digital media and/or video.
About the Juror: Joey P. Mánlapaz
Associate Faculty at the Corcoran College of Art and Design, Joey P. Mánlapaz has exhibited, juried and curated across the US and abroad. Exhibitions include the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the 2011 NY Affordable Art Fair, the 2012 Miami Red Dot Art Fair and the 2007 London Bridge Art Fair. She has received numerous commissions and her work has been collected by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, the State Department and several private firms in the DC area.

Eligibility and Submission Criteria
Open to artists 13-18 years of age who are residents of Prince George’s County, Montgomery County, Fairfax County or City, the City of Alexandria, the City of Arlington, or the District of Columbia. No entry fee.
One original artwork per artist submission. Artworks may be any media, including but not limited to drawing, painting, sculpture, original print, photography, video and digital media. Any audio, video, or other electronic equipment required to display artworks must be provided by after artwork selection.
Materials should be delivered in person to the Brentwood Arts Exchange, located on the first floor of the Gateway Arts Center. Artists are responsible for transporting work to and from the gallery. Artwork must be delivered ready to hang and appropriately presented. For digital media, please submit a CD/DVD containing image or video, no longer than five minutes in duration. Artwork not ready for gallery installation may be rejected. Along with your artwork, please provide:
Your name and contact information, including address, telephone number, and email.
Title of artwork, media, dimensions, and sales price.

All artists will be informed of acceptance or non-acceptance by email. Artists who do not have email addresses may request to be notified by mail.
Sales and Insurance
The M-NCPPC will retain a 25% commission on all artworks sold during, or as a result of the exhibition. The M-NCPPC will insure all consigned artwork in the custody of the Brentwood Arts Exchange from the time they are received by delivery, until the pick-up date only.
