Meetup: Wednesday, November 18 from 6pm to 8pm
Funk Parade organizers are convening a meetup for creatives citywide, to brainstorm collaborative art ideas for next year’s event.
The meetup will take place on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at the Thurgood Marshall Center, 1816 12th St. NW, Washington DC, from 6 to 8 pm. The event is free, but RSVPs are needed to attend. The link to RSVP is:
The event will be held speeddating style, with pairs of creators getting a few minutes each to explain what they do and what ideas they may have, before time is up and they sit down with other creators. At the end, all creators will reconvene and share their favorite ideas.
Organizers hope the event results in new and unexpected collaborations between local artists for next year’s event. “A beatboxer will find a bubble artist to create a routine with. A saxophonist will find a live sculptor who wants to try an intermedia jam. A digital designer and videographer want to team with a music composer to create a visual historical musical short of
U Street,” they wrote in an open invitation to creatives posted to social media.
The meetup will be at the Thurgood Marshall Center, 1816 12th St. NW.
