From the DCCAH:

On Monday, April 7, 2014, Mayor Vincent C. Gray will join the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH) in hosting its annual Grants Kickoff at the Historic Lincoln Theatre from 10:00 to 11:30 AM. At the event, the DCCAH will present the FY15 funding opportunities for District of Columbia artists, nonprofits and arts organizations.  The event is free and open to the public.

“I am proud that our city is home to some of the finest arts and cultural organizations in the entire country,” said Mayor Gray. “Our theatres, museums, galleries and concert venues continually host high-caliber performances and exhibitions, attracting audiences locally, nationally and internationally.”

“The start of grants season is always an exciting time for us,” said Lavinia Wohlfarth, Acting Chair of the DCCAH. “Providing grant funding is a cornerstone of our mission, and we look forward to another year of supporting our local artists and arts organizations.”

“Our grant programs represent an investment by the city in the arts and humanities,” said Lionell Thomas, Executive Director of the DCCAH. “By investing in our local cultural organizations and artists, we continue to make Washington, DC a great place to live, work, and play.”

Grant guidelines and applications will be available to the public on April 7, 2014. All applications must be submitted online through the DCCAH’s grant management portal. Deadlines for the various grant programs will occur between May 7 and May 16.

The DCCAH will provide free grant-writing workshops to provide assistance to potential applicants from April 8 to May 1. Workshops will be held at the DCCAH office, THEARC in Ward 8 and the Marshall Heights Community Development Organization located in Ward 7. Staff is also available to review applications prior to submittal by appointment. The DCCAH is pleased to offer new and topical workshops this year on “Assessment and Evaluation” and “Work Samples and Artistic Content”.

An Advisory Review Panel will review all eligible applications according to published criteria. Awards are subject to the availability of funds. The DCCAH Board of Commissioners must approve all funding decisions.
