Why come to East City to view art? If you’ve ever wondered why, this is the weekend to answer your question. 120 artists will open their studios in the towns of Brentwood, Hyattsville and Mount Rainier and six openings are scheduled on Capitol Hill and the H Street Corridor.
The Fridge presents Cold Light: Bioluminescent Evolution, with Beth Hansen, Katie Schuler, and Jeremy Tidd. The opening reception is scheduled for Saturday May 14 from 7pm to 10pm. The exhibition runs through June 4 with a closing show scheduled on that day.
Evolve Urban Arts Project presents Shenanigans featuring works by Lindsey Applebee with an opening reception Saturday May 14 from 5pm to 8pm. The exhibition runs through June 25, 2011.

Saturday May 14 from 6pm to 8pm will open Flexible Love showcasing accordion-like seating that can be expanded, contracted & Manipulated into different shapes. The chair is made from recycled paper and wood. The exhibition runs through July 2, 2011.
The Gateway Arts District 2011 Open Studio Tour Will Feature 15 Venues, 70 Studios and 120 Participating Artists
The Gateway Arts District located in the towns of Brentwood, Hyattsville and Mount Rainier will participate in one of the largest open studio tours in the area. From Noon to 5pm on Saturday May 14, over 120 artists’ work will be on display. A free shuttle bus will connect visitors with participating venues.
Capitol Hill Art League Hosts its Second Annual Metro DC Open Juried Exhibit Coming Home/Lighting Out
The Capitol Hill Art League presents its second annual metro DC open juried exhibit entitled Coming Home/Lighting Out. The juror for the exhibit is Jack Rasmussen, Director and Curator of the American University Museum. Opening reception is Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 5pm to 7pm with a juror’s talk scheduled for 5:30.
