Pyramid Atlantic has moved from its Silver Spring location to the historic Arcade building in Hyattsville at the north end of the Gateway Arts District. The new 13,000 square foot facility has printmaking, papermaking and bookbinding  studios, a woodshop, classrooms and an art gallery. We have 19 private artist studios in the new location. In  addition, we have Anacostia Trails Heritage Area Inc (ATHA) and Neighborhood Design Center (NDC)  offices in our building.

History and Core Values
Pyramid Atlantic Art Center (PAAC) was founded in 1981 by noted artist and teacher Helen C. Frederick to provide a setting for artistic collaboration and dialogue. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit contemporary arts center,  PAAC receives federal and state funds as well as generous support from private foundations, corporations, and local businesses. In addition, we count individual donors and our members among our most valued supporters.

We believe that prints, handmade paper and book arts are a source of inspiration, that experimentation leads to discovery, and that creativity is the cornerstone of the learning process. It is our goal to inspire  artistic excellence, promote educational enrichment, and foster community engagement through programs  and activities that promote the appreciation of these artistic practices.

We also offer classes  taught by experienced teachers all year round.  Pyramid Atlantic Art Center offers opportunities to artists in the form of residencies and internships. The Denbo Fellowship, Keyholder Residency and the Connecting Heritage Artist Residency are three of the  residencies currently offered. The Internship program is another avenue for recent graduates.    PAAC has strong ties to the community. We offer unique educational programs in which professional artists  bring the arts of papermaking, printmaking, and the book to K12 classrooms and other educational venues  throughout Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC.

Pyramid Atlantic is located at 4318 Gallatin Street, Hyattsville, MD 20781. For more information about the centers workshops go to www.pyramidatlanticartcenter.org/workshops
