Friday September 15th the Anacostia Community Museum kicks off its 50th Anniversary events calendar with the exhibition Your Community, Your Story: Celebrating Five Decades of the Anacostia Community Museum, 1967-2017. The exhibition explores how ACM has pushed the boundaries of what “museum” means through several of its signature projects.

Your Community, Your Story is part of a day-long celebration with performances (several dedicated to the museum’s founding director John Kinard) and a book talk by Joy Kinard.

Saturday, October 7 ACM is hosting a Community Block Party from 11am to 4pm with live performances, food trucks, kid’s activities, art and crafts, storytelling, a vendor’s marketplace, and more. We’re excited to have Experience Unlimited (EU) as our featured guests artists. Shuttle service will be running on a continuous loop to and from the Anacostia Metro station (GREEN line) for this event.

The event is located at 1901 Fort Place SE.
