Events: Saturdays, July 16, 23, 30 from 10am to 12pm
ReCreative Spaces will launch Art in the Park(ing lot) this July in the northeast DC neighborhood of Brentwood. Through a series of interactive events for all ages, the initiative seeks to promote local engagement and neighborhood wellness, while also increasing curb appeal of a dilapidated shopping center along Rhode Island Avenue NE.
In July, programming will kick off with a series of hands-on art activities, live music and dancing, and other wellness events (TBA). ReCreative Spaces will curate, produce, and manage these free outdoor events and workshops, specifically tailored for local interests in the parking lot of what was formerly known as Brentwood Village Shopping Center (1301 Rhode Island Ave NE).
With input from the community and through collaboration with local artists and organizations, ReCreative Spaces will host weekly activities through mid-October, which will transform the parking lot into a colorful oasis to be enjoyed by all.
Events kick off with a chance to join local artists for visual and performing arts workshops, and include an opportunity to help beautify the parking lot. This event series is FREE, open to the public, and family friendly.
