Opening Reception & Gallery Talk: Saturday, April 18 from 5pm to 7pm
Spring is finally here, and to celebrate, the Capitol Hill Art League will open its What’s Poppin juried art show at a reception on Saturday, April 18th at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW, located at 545 Seventh Street, S.E, Washington, DC 20003. CHAW is located three blocks south of the renowned Eastern Market on Capitol Hill. The show will run April 18th through May 30th in the CHAW Gallery.
The show Juror, Mary Ellen Vehlow, is co-owner of Gallery O on H Street and a principal in Pensare Design Company in downtown Washington, DC. Ms. Vehlow has co-curated a number of exhibitions for the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore. AVAM is an art museum located in Baltimore’s Federal Hill neighborhood, which specializes in the preservation and display of visionary art (also known as outsider art). It has been designated by Congress as America’s national museum for self-taught art. She is also an avid collector of outsider art. She will be at the reception on Saturday, the 18th from 5:00-7:00 pm with juror remarks at 5:30pm. All are invited to attend.
The fifteen artists featured at the show represent a wide range of media including oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, graphite, pencil, collage, and photography.
