Dance Place presents Domeworks 2014 an exhibit by Ryan Martinez and Jeremiah Tittle, December 4, 2014 – January 2, 2015 at Studio 21.
Domeworks 2014, displays paintings created by Ryan Martinez and Jeremiah Tittle over the past year at their house on Domer Ave in Takoma Park. Martinez’s work oscillates between the representational and the abstract, while Tittle pays homage to famous works and comments on the effect of technology on society.
Takoma Park native Ryan Martinez has been drawing since childhood, and in 2009 entered a period of intense experimentation with both oil and acrylic paints. Stylistically, he has explored numerous styles and techniques, also incorporating photography, by taking close-up shots of paint on canvas then making large-scale reprints of the interaction. Martinez has also installed almost 200 hand-painted ceiling tiles in the Bethesda school where he works.
Born in Alexandria to two ministers, Jeremiah Tittle is an artist, teacher, and journalist. He is also a talent-free musician. It’s the knowledge of this limitation, which causes him such fascination, drawing inspiration from the music around him to relay his passion for the untouchable, visually, through his work. Further inspiration is drawn from the inevitable technological advancements, which have evolved or devolved our collective sense of community and interpersonal communication.
