Some of these notables include Lorraine Hansberry author of Raisin in the Sun, Harlem Renaissance poet Sterling Brown and renowned African American painter Lois Mailou Jones.

This contemporary exhibit of Fine Art Photography was curated by Lavinia Wohlfarth in honor of Black History Month, 2013, and will be on exhibit for the month of February at Brooks Mansion.
