Brookland has a rich and glorious history. Not only does it carry its own interesting story centered around Brooks Mansion but a wealth of historic figures either made their home or lived here for an important period of their lives. Some of these notables include Lorraine Hansberry author of Raisin in the Sun, Harlem Renaissance poet Sterling Brown and renowned African American painter Lois Mailou Jones.
This contemporary exhibit of Fine Art Photography was curated by Lavinia Wohlfarth in honor of Black History Month, 2013, and will be on exhibit for the month of February at Brooks Mansion.
