Event: Saturday, April 23 from 11am to 6pm
HESI Collectiv presents its premiere fine art and fashion collection at HESI Art Haus in Washington, DC. HESI Art Haus will run for one evening on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 11:00am-6:00pm with a short artist chat at 12:00pm. The event will be held at 1741 Johnson Avenue NW. Attendees should expect to see a blend of mixed media artworks, artfully curated custom garments, music and light libations.
Featured in the show is HESI’s founder Kyle Douglas, affectionately known as “Steelo Blk”. Many of his works are mainstream disruptive inspired pieces which employ bold color and form to demonstrate his interpretation of cultural and ethical relationships.
HESI aims to shine a light on the importance of authenticity by using art as a vehicle to motivate youth to be themselves and affirm those around them. “All good things come to those that stay true. We are not monolithic. My art is not only How I [Eye] See It [HESI], but what it makes others see”, Douglas says. In Salty Season, a piece featured in the HESI Art Haus show, Douglas explores unconventional collage techniques and texture to represent the media driven labels leaned on our youth.
