Opening Reception: Friday, March 4 from 6pm to 9pm
Lina Alattar’s solo exhibition, Embracing Abstraction, is part of Hillyer’s Art Space Typecast, an all media exhibition that will showcase artists whose work expresses, explores and questions ideas about identity.
Lina Alattar’s work in particular explores concepts that deal with evolving identity. Having lived on three continents by the age of 12, her work explores rootlessness, belonging, identity, and our shared human experience. Her paintings are part of a series that explores ourselves and the world around us. Alattar illustrates how we are all travelers, expanding the parameters of our identity, searching for aesthetic experience, guiding ourselves into wholeness.
Alattar holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Middle Tennessee State University. She continued her painting education in Italy through a study-abroad program, as well as The George Washington University. She currently has gallery representation at Touchstone Gallery where she also serve as Vice President of the Board.
Awards and exhibitions include Chelsea International Fine Art Competition, NY; McLean Project for the Arts, Strictly Painting 10; DC Convention Center, Art All Night; Greater Reston Arts Center, Touchstone Gallery, Olly Olly, The George Washington University, Basilica of Saint Ubaldo, Italy; Centennial Art Center, and Tennessee State Museum.
