The National Museum of Women in the Arts will offer free admission to the public on Thursday, May 18, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. to celebrate the Association of Art Museum Director’s (AAMD) Art Museum Day.
This year’s theme for Art Museum Day is “Art Museums Foster Vibrant Communities.” This theme celebrates the vital role art museums play as cultural, educational and economic anchors, helping make their communities great places to live and work.
Art Museum Day participants will have the opportunity to experience special exhibitions Chromatic Scale: Prints by Polly Apfelbaum, From the Desk of Simone de Beauvoir and The Women Arrive: From Masonic Temple to Women’s Museum, in addition to discovering the newly reinstalled collection, featuring highlights emphasizing connections between historical and contemporary art.
