Opening Reception: Saturday, January 10 from 1pm to 4pm

The exhibit runs through January 30.

Human beings have been creating art inspired by the human form for over 40,000 years making it amongst one of the most common subjects. Sculptor Hebron Chism and painter Collin Lacey both create works using their unique viewpoints elevating the familiar to the unexpected.

Hebron Chism juxtaposes figures carved out of wood, and accents them with found objects ranging from fur to cast iron pieces to create balanced tableaus of people in motion while Collin Lacey (a favorite of many Outsider Art collectors familiar with his work from previous shows at Art Enables) uses his unique line work and watercolors to create moody, marvelous works.

Visitors to the opening of Figuratively Speaking will also have the opportunity to create their own art work using materials provided by Art Enables while  enjoying a performance of the National Symphony Orchestra’s NSO In Your Neighborhood program. Tickets are not required, but RSVP strongly recommended.

Off Rhode Gallery at Art Enables is located at 2204 Rhode Island Ave NE. For more information, visit www.art-enables.org/off-rhodecall 202.554.9455, or email [email protected]
