Project4 presents Everyware, a show dedicated to exploring handheld digital art by a group of three artists connected and sharing their work and ideas through social media. The digital interface and the nature of ineluctable access to new creative possibilities is a way of activating a dialogue and developing a truly unique relationship of artistic production and technology. The inherent mutability and the potential for interactivity lend themselves to breaking beyond the constraints of space and time that inform many other art forms. Through applications such as Instagram, EyEm, and Snapwire, the artists engage and foster a new type of urbanism and digital geography posing questions of materiality and spatiotemporality in their work and practice.

Reflecting on contemporary conditions, the works of Aaron Cahill, William Deegan, and Lynette Jackson explore context with mobile technologies by repositioning the “mundane or overlooked” via image manipulation. Their conceptualizations are shared among hundreds and sometimes thousands of followers that are engaged in similar but unique activity of creating. The process of dialogue and critique is open ended and one of constant change. The speed of exchange, reflection, and response to such artwork is something that drives new conceptualizations and a continued renewal of viewpoints. Working as individuals, yet aware of each other’s explorations, Aaron, Bill, and Lynette’s work is connected by an extended moment of speculation.
