Artist Reception: Saturday, December 5 from 6pm to 7:30pm
The artwork of Jordan Shackelford is on exhibit from October 16th – January 9, 2016 at the Publick Playhouse. Jordan Shackelford began his study of the Arts at a young age copying his favorite television cartoon characters. He later studied the art of drawing and painting in Suitland High School’s Visual and Performing Arts program, and was offered a scholarship to attend the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia where he graduated majoring in the Fine Arts. Since graduating, he’s been active in beautifying the community through his artwork – creating murals and works on canvas that transform schools, offices, homes, and daycares into colorful and inspiring places of infinite possibilities.
The “To Be Young” exhibition is focused around childhood memories. Jordan Shackelford strives to capture the carefree, “everything is right in the world,” moments in youth. As you move through the exhibition, each landscape, portrait and still-life depicts a very distinct childhood memory. “To Be Young” includes oil paintings on canvas.
Publick Playhouse is located at 5445 Landover Road, Cheverly, MD. For more information visit http://arts.pgparks.com/page67006.aspx.
