Serengeti Gallery presents a group exhibition of works featuring photographs of the Million Man March.  The Million Man March in Photographs: A Retrospective exhibit will run from October 8, 2015 – January 7, 2016.  There will be an opening reception with the artists on the Second Thursday of the month, October 8th, from 7 – 9:30 p.m.

Several photographers are featured in the show, including Jonathan French, Mansa Mussa, Roderick Terry, and Vincent Smith.  Many images were taken in black and white, and feature march participants as their primary subject matter—the warmth and camaraderie of the day, perceivable to the viewer.  Recurring themes in the exhibit are purpose, hope, and unity.

The opening reception will be a lively and engaging evening, and begin with selections from poet, CeLillianne Green, continue with a panel discussion with artists who captured the march twenty years ago, and end with the official opening of the exhibit.  Enjoy a stirring evening with like-minded friends, as we prepare for the Justice Or Else March.  Wine and refreshments will be served, and artists will be present to discuss their work, as well as how the movement inspired them.

Serengeti Gallery is located at 7919 Central Ave., Capitol Heights, MD. For more information email [email protected], call 301.808.6987, or visit www.galleryserengetistore.com.
