Read our Kites:
An exhibition by H-B Woodlawn Middle School students takes its inspiration from signal kites flown by Korean Admiral Yi Sun Shin during the war of the 1590s. Led by instructor Faylinda Kodis, forty-four students created traditional Korean signal kites, complete with their own secret code. Though rooted in history, signal kites tap into contemporary shorthand used in text messaging and other electronic communications.
