On July 26th, you’re invited to become a part of a festive, one-of-a-kind event where artists will transform the Hyattsville Route 1 Overpass into a captivating landmark through public art and festivities that commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the March Across Prince George’s County, the War of 1812, and the growing Art Lives Here Initiative in the Gateway Arts District.

Join the Hyattsville CDC for live music and performances, live public art on the bridge itself, food, drinks, kids activities, and two artist-instructed Citizen-Paint-Project murals.

Public Art by artist teams Lordants/Mark Walker, Edward M. Williams of The Studio 33, and Arthur Kwon Lee.

Featured performances start at 5pm and include the 1814! The War of 1812 Rock Opera, Blue Sky Puppet Theatre, and Arachne Aerial Arts. Enjoy a day in the sun and shade, explore open shops and restaurants along the corridor, and engage with local public artists and performers. A growing list of local performers and musicians, activities and open businesses is online at http://hycdc.org/bursting.

The opening will be held at Franklin’s Lot at Route 1 Overpass.
