Hothouse Video: Amy Finkelstein
Hothouse Video: Amy Finkelstein marks the first solo exhibition of Amy Finkelstein’s film works. The exhibition includes six digitized 16mm film works which have been made over the course of ten years and include stop-motion animations, unedited shorts, and documentations of abstract form. Well known for her C-print works of India ink on Mylar, Finkelstein expands on the abstract forms and scenery created in her photographs and translates into a visual storyboard through film. Finkelstein’s process welcomes the accidental, unplanned happenings that can occur within the unknowns of analog film favoring collaboration between making and finding, rather than the execution of finely polished plans.
