The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities invites you to submit nominations for the 26th Annual Mayor’s Arts Awards. The Mayor’s Arts Awards are the most prestigious honors conferred by the city on individual artists, organizations and patrons of the arts. Mayor Vincent C. Gray and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities will honor award recipients at a a public event in April.
The submission Deadline is Friday February 11, 2011 at 7PM
Each year, the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities invites citizens to nominate outstanding artists and arts organizations in the following categories:
* Outstanding Emerging Artist
* Excellence in Service to the Arts
* Outstanding Contribution to Arts Education
* Innovation in the Arts
* Excellence in an Artistic Discipline
This award is given to outstanding applications of imagination and creativity taught in the DC Public Schools and DC Public Charter Schools. It serves to honor arts teachers who have demonstrated leadership in enhancing the quality of art education for DC’s student population. An arts teacher may be nominated by school principals, parents, students, arts organizations or department supervisors.
Please note nominees must teach at DC Public Schools and DC Public Charter Schools. Nominations can be made in following categories:
* Performing Arts
* Visual Arts
* Language Arts
