The Brentwood Arts Exchange’s presents a feature of artwork by Flux Studios’ emerging artist Brittany Petersen in the Crafts Showcase. With an emphasis on the relationship between humans and the industrial world, Peterson creates small ceramic sculptures and installations using basic utilitarian shapes which she aggregates into sculptural vignettes, suggestive of paintings by Charles Sheeler as much as Giorgio Morandi. The process of working with her hands, she says, allows her to discover the sublime phenomenon within industrial culture while arming against it.

Petersen is the second artist of the Brentwood Arts Exchange’s Front Window Featured Artist Program, its initiative to promote exceptional local artists working in small sculpture, craft, and especially artist who blur the boundaries between them.
