Start off your weekend Friday evening at the Tubman-Mahan gallery as they celebrate Mother Earth. Saturday, be among the first to have attended the “Rode” trip sponsored by Art Enables. That evening the Capitol Hill Art League hosts an all media juried show. On Sunday, the students of Eastern Market Pottery will sell their wares at the annual Spring Student Sale.
Friday, April 8
From 6:30pm to 8:30pm, join the Tubman-Mahan gallery at the Center for Green Urbanism in celebrating the arrival of spring with the opening of the group show Mama Earth curated by Authentic Contemporary Art. The exhibition features the work of a dozen artists, many of whom are local. The Tubman Mahan Gallery at the Center for Green Urbanism is located at 3938 Benning Road, NE two blocks from Minnesota Avenue Metro; free parking is available in the rear or across the street at the Benning Road Library.
Saturday, April 9
Art Enables will begin the Second Saturday “Rode” Trips– “Rode” as in Rhode Island Avenue. Works from their emerging artists will be on display at the gallery from Noon to 5pm. Art Enables is now located at 2204 Rhode Island Avenue, NE
The Capitol Hill Art League opens Art That Moves an all-media juried exhibition which coincides with the Dance is the Answer festival set to kick-off next week. The opening begins at 5pm with a juror talk at 5:30; the opening ends at 7pm. The exhibition is hosted at CHAW located at 545 7th Street SE.
Sunday, April 10
The students of Eastern Market Pottery will host their annual Spring Student Sale from 11am to 4pm at Eastern Market Pottery. Do not let the term “student” fool you- there are seasoned veterans selling beautiful handmade ceramic tiles, stoneware and jewelry at very reasonable prices. Eastern Market Pottery is located in the basement of Eastern Market on the building’s south side (the northwest corner of 7th and C Streets SE).
