Online, phone, and in-person registration will open JULY 11 for the CHAW Youth Arts Program (YAP).
For almost forty-five years, CHAW has offered high quality arts programming in a fun and dynamic space that encourages Confidence, Creativity, and Community, and we are delighted to present information and registration for our full year of signature programming.
The CHAW YAP experience provides just the right balance of creativity and exploration with professional, warm teachers in a welcoming community of friends both old and new. The flexible program allows for opportunities to delve into new subjects at a beginner level as well as explore more advanced concepts in each art form at every age level. As with all CHAW programs, we offer tuition assistance and payment plans to ensure that a CHAW class may be made available to all. Transportation options are also available with CHAW vans that will pick up students at a variety of area schools.
Deputy Director of Education Leslie Mansour said, “To us, it’s not “just” an arts class, because art is life. Everything we do should focus and have art incorporated into it. So kids are not just coming in to learn about art: they’re learning about life, about themselves, and about how to fit into the world genuinely and not lose sight of that. Art keeps the focus on those authentic feelings of identity and the community you belong to–and art provides a lens on how you can change the world with that perspective.”
This year, classes include a wide array of visual and performing arts studios, from ceramics to photography to puppetry, painting, and beyond, in addition to dance, music, and theatre opportunities. All classes culminate in a Performance Festival & Exhibition, which will take place on Saturday, December 10. For more information: http://www.chaw.org/yap-after-school-arts.
Classes begin August 29, and there will be a special in-house registration event that is free and open to all on August 27.
