Fridays, December 2 & 16 – Friday ARTnights: Drop-In Figure Drawing
The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW) hosts a drop-in “Working from the Figure” session on Fridays, December 2 & December 16, 2016 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at CHAW, 545 7th Street, SE. Work on drawings or paintings in front of a live model in a session without formal instruction, facilitated by artist Will Fleishell. Please bring your own drawing materials. Easels are available. Saturday, December 3 – Make a Holiday Flower Arrangement
Join Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW) for an exciting NEW addition to its workshop lineup, a flower arranging session perfectly timed for entertaining season (or just for cozying up). This fun, relaxed workshop will run 10am-12pm at CHAW, 545 7th St. SE, on Saturday, December 3 and is open to all levels—no experience needed! You’ll learn all about arranging techniques from teaching artist Meredith Wallace. Originally from Montana, Meredith E.S Wallace is an amateur florist living and working in Washington DC. She works in international power development by day but for the past few years all of her free time has been spent learning about flowers and designing arrangements for friends and family. $40 includes all materials plus a vase and shears to keep. Friday, December 9 – Friday ARTnights: Paint & Sip
Join the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW) for Paint and Sip, part of CHAW’s popular Friday ARTnights program, for an evening of painting and wine on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at CHAW, 545 7th Street, SE. Receive step-by-step instruction from CHAW teaching artists Ellen Cornett and Sheppard Bear as you create your own masterpiece, all while enjoying snacks and wine. $30 includes all materials and refreshments. Saturday, December 10 – Annual Performance Festival, Ceramics Sale, Gingerbread House-Making & Student Show Art Gallery Opening
The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW) is proud to present its Annual Performance Festival on Saturday, December 10. As always, this busy day will include performances from all levels of class-takers, from kids to adults, and will also feature work for sale from our advanced ceramics students (perfect for holiday gifts!). By popular demand, Gingerbread House-Making will also be back (3pm-6pm at St. Marks Episcopal Church, 301 A St. SE). The Gallery will feature CHAW student work, and there will be a free gallery opening, complete with wine and cheese, 4:30pm-6:30pm. There will also be a special performance by CHAW resident dance company, Light Switch Dance Theatre, 6:30-7:30pm. The whole day is free and open to the public, and takes place at CHAW, 545 7th St. SE from 10am to 7:30pm. Snacks and special opportunities to register for CHAW classes and win fun prizes, too! at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop

A creative space for young artists to create, experience, and develop a love of the arts
Tuesdays 10:30 – 12:30
Recommended for ages 2 – 4 with caregiver (no drop offs)
Drop-in only; minimum donation $5 per child; 2 child limit per adult
All proceeds benefit CHAW tuition assistance
Classes take place at CHAW, 545 7th St. SE

Classes begin with a children’s story based on an artist’s life or a book that will help introduce the day’s project and techniques. One main guided project will be based on the story and appeal to a range of ages. Additional exploration stations will be set up to complement the main project.
