Art After Work
Every Other Thursday, 6:30 – 8:30pm

Grab a friend and free yourself from the daily stresses of the workplace in these creative evening art classes. Participants and their friends can enjoy an evening of art making, wine and conversation while expressing their creativity in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Each class will briefly present a new and exciting art medium as well as an array of techniques for participants to try. Guests are invited to bring their own bottles of wine or beer. No previous art experience is required.

  • No registration necessary.  Walk-ins welcome.

Fearless Drawing
Ever wonder how Picasso allowed himself to create simple yet poetic pieces? Join instructor Karen Graff in this four week drawing class, where participants will complete a variety of drawing exercises designed to free their inner artist. Projects include magnifying the minute, challenging one and two point perspective, and abstracting nature.

Introduction to Adobe Photoshop
Using hands on techniques, learn to use the namesake software of contemporary image editing. Create and build skills utilizing the computer as an art and photography tool. This is a two part introductory course. Taught by photographer Alison Duval.

All Things Hammered – Metalworking/Jewelry Series

Make a Silver Ring
Make a silver or copper ring and learn the basics of jewelry making. Fundamental jewelry skills such as sawing, filing, soldering and polishing will be demonstrated and practiced. This class is designed as an introduction to jewelry making as a hobby.  Basic materials included.  Optional materials available for purchase from instructor.

Bangles & Cuffs
Make beautiful cuff bracelets and bangles from copper using basic hammering techniques and simple tools. Cutting, hammering and metal coloring techniques will be demonstrated and practiced. This is a fun way to make jewelry using readily available materials and tools. Basic materials included. Optional materials available for purchase from instructor.

Make a Bowl
Make a copper bowl in this one day class. Annealing, sinking, planishing, metal coloring, and tinning will be demonstrated and practiced. This class is a good introduction to basic metalsmithing techniques used to make functional tableware. Basic materials included. Optional materials available for purchase from instructor.

Children’s Metalworking
Make a beautiful copper chain bracelet and cast a pewter medallion or pin in this fun kids workshop. Basic metal working processes such as forging, melting, bending, annealing and metal coloration explored. Participants will learn the techniques of small metalworking including torch work and cold manipulation. Talk to teacher about parent participation.  Materials provided.

Spooktacular Pumpkin Carving Workshop
Come carve pumpkins at the Brentwood Arts Exchange! Families and friends are invited to join us for this casual Saturday activity in celebration of Halloween. This is a free drop-in workshop; all ages are welcome to attend. Pumpkins and tools will be provided. We’ll clean up the mess!

A Very Turkey Day – Thanksgiving Arts & Crafts Workshop
In celebration of the Holidays, the Brentwood Arts Exchange invites families to join us or a holiday artmaking workshop. In this scrapbooking workshop led by arts educator, Karen O. Brown, families are invited to bring in old family photos, recipes and other meaningful items to add to a memory book. One book is to be decorated by each member of the family. Family photos will be taken on site. Please bring in copies of photos.
