Craig Kraft Studio is excited to announce the first recipient of our series of Small Project grants for District Artist. Redeat Wondemu is an Eritrean-born, Ethiopian-American photographer who captures portraits of women in Ethiopia in a series called “Modern Muses,” dealing with matters of beauty standards, inspiration and representation. Wondemu makes large silver gelatin prints enlarged from medium format film and contact-prints on hand-coated platinum.
They’re thrilled to continue offering small project grants to other emerging artists in the District. These grants will soon be operating under the umbrella of Neon for Change, a 501c3 non-profit currently pending certification.
Along with supporting emerging artists, Neon for Change will better enable donations to support the creation of neon Missing Persons flyers. In case you missed it in a previous email, here is a link to the coverage of that series by NBC 4.
