DC Leads in Arts Spending Per Capita

By Editorial Team on June 24, 2015

Washington, DC leads the United States in arts spending per capita, spending $23.98 compared to the national average of $1.09.  Arts-funding depends on multiple sources, including state budgets, grants, and private donation, and consequently arts-related spending is often disproportionate to the size of the public being served. While states with larger populations or even greater budgets fall among the lowest funded, DC’s dedication to funding its arts is apparent.  See the rankings here [via The Art Newspaper]
