The Gateway Community Development Corporation (CDC) will activate the corner at 4301 Rhode Island Avenue in Brentwood, MD with the conversion of 2,400 square feet of commercial space into new artist studios thanks to a recent grant award of $42,500 from the Prince George’s County Redevelopment Authority.

“It is Gateway CDC’s goal to help remove vacant space from the U.S. Route 1 corridor, activate the corner of this location with new arts-related activities and provide new, affordable studio spaces for artists to hone their craft and invest in the Gateway Arts District,” said Carole Bernard, Gateway CDC Executive Director.

Gateway CDC currently manages 30 artist studios at the ezStorage building, as well as at the Gateway CDC owned and operated, Gateway Arts Center at 3901 Rhode Island Avenue. Gateway CDC seeks to build 4-6 new artist studios, working with staff from ezStorage who generously matched this grant. Construction will start in the next couple of months.
