A Creative DC is proud to welcome DC artist Maps Glover to their studio this month as resident artist at A Creative DC: Brookland.
From January 4 – January 31, 2019 (a span of 27 days), artist Maps Glover is utilizing A Creative DC: Brookland as a space to create work, including a series of 27 paintings leading up to his 27th birthday.
His paintings and process will be on view throughout the residency to passers-by on the Arts Walk at Monroe Street Market, and you can follow along with Maps’s transmissions from the space on his Instagram account: @mapsglover.
Maps hosted an open house at A Creative DC: Brookland Saturday, January 19, and will host a closing show on January 31, from 6PM – 9PM. Work will be on view and available for purchase at each event.
Maps Glover creates work inspired by human behavior and observation, and pervasive social issues. He visualizes how time affects behavior, and how observation of behavior alters perspective. He constructs portals in which the characters he creates exist and experience the world around them, often in ways that seem unnatural to the viewer. Maps has created and performed work at Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, Smithsonian Arts & Industries Building, Transformer DC, and more.
