NCAR Arts Vibrancy Index Lists DC as most “Vibrant Arts Community” in United States

Southern Methodist University’s Center for Arts Research (NCAR) released its first annual Arts Vibrancy Index on January 21, 2015 compiling data from over 900 communities across the United States.  The Index distinguishes small towns (metro population under 1 million) from large cities (metro population over 1 million).  Washington, DC came in first in large part due to the heft of Federal funding and because the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities ranks first among state agencies for grant giving dollars.  Read the full report here.
