Protesters Seek Koch’s Removal Citing Conflicted Interests

Protesters gathered outside of the Smithsonian Castle on Monday, June 15 to call from the removal of David Koch, co-owner of the oil conglomerate Koch industries, from the Smithsonian’s Museum of Natural History board. Authorities discovered earlier this year that Dr. Wei-Hock Soon failed to disclose funding from fossil-fuel interests. 430,000 supporters signed a petition for his removal that claims Koch’s political investments, which include the funding of climate-change-denying organizations, will conflict with the operations of the public institution that supports climate change research .
