Smith Center for Healing and the Arts board has announced the selection of Lisa Simms Booth as the next Executive Director of the Smith Center for Healing and the Arts.
Lisa brings over 15 years of experience working with visionaries and practitioners across the country to help ensure the patient and caregiver voice is heard and valued. Most recently, Lisa served as the Senior Director of Patient and Public Engagement at the Biden Cancer Initiative. Prior to her last role, she was with FasterCures, a center of the Milken Institute, where she held leadership roles in partnership development, stakeholder engagement as well as external affairs and operations.
In addition to her professional skill set, Lisa brings heart, soul and passion for cancer survivorship to the position. As a daughter who lost her mother to ovarian cancer, she is intimate with the journey many Smith Center participants are traveling and the importance of bringing a more integrative approach to cancer care. Lisa comes to us as a Pittsburgh native and graduate of Michigan State University. She is active in the music and community outreach ministries at her church, Metropolitan AME, which recently celebrated its 181st Anniversary.
