Join the 39th Street Gallery for an artist talk with Raina Martens on her installation, Public Soil Memory for the Plantationocene, currently at the Sandy Spring Museum.
Public Soil Memory for the Plantationocene, is a site specific ceramic installation that uses soil as a starting place and medium for remembering the history of slavery and tobacco monoculture in Sandy Spring, Maryland. This talk will explore memory, soil, and how remembering the past has consequences for future social and ecological flourishing.
The exhibition at Sandy Spring Museum runs through September 30th.
