Closing Event with Reception & Discussion: Sunday, July 22 from 3pm to 5pm
Come meet Cathy Katona and learn through her photographs the stories of the people and cultures she experienced in Mali (Timbuktu, Djafarabe, Dogon Region).
Cathy Katona’s travels are driven by her passion to document our world and those with whom we share it. Katona uses photography as a means of encouraging the viewer to appreciate and respect our planet’s rich cultural diversity, while recognizing universal human similarities, in order to bridge perceptual gaps between cultures. The resulting images convey the warmth, wealth and strength of those she has met through her travels, our contemporaries, before the individuals and their cultures disappear. Her on-going growing portfolio Photographs from around our world is a compilation of her travels, which to date include visits to over 40 countries. She’s traveled around the world, to the top of the world and to Timbuktu and back.
