Carolina Mayorga will discuss her exhibit Divine Revelations: Passages from the Life of Our Lady. This recent series continues the artist’s interest in exploring issues of cultural identity, gender, and ethnicity through photography–this time with Mayorga playing the part of Virgin Mary. The installation grew out of a study of masterpieces and illuminated manuscripts, and includes over 30 images of Virgin Mary and 12 manuscript panels. RSVP on Facebook here.

2:45pm Michael B. Platt at Honfleur Gallery

  • 1241 Good Hope Rd. SE WDC 20020

Michael B. Platt will talk about Steppin’ Out, his exhibition at Honfleur Gallery. The photo-based images for which Platt has become known literally extend beyond the canvas in this new body of work through his use of adhesive cutouts applied directly to the wall. The imagery in this series was influenced by recent travels to Australia. Poet Carol Beane, a frequent collaborator of Platt’s, will give a reading of her poetry. A poem of hers is a part of the exhibit. RSVP on Facebook here.

The Gallery at Vivid Solutions and Honfleur Gallery are located just around the corner from one another.
