Sharon Fishel, Heart Of Something, 16” x 16’ / Oil on canvas, 2022
Reception and Artist Talk: Saturday, February 4 from 5pm to 7pm

Gallery 115 is pleased to present in the Circle Gallery, a new gallery space dedicated to highlighting regional artistic talent, Earth Witness: Recent Paintings by Sharon Fishel. The exhibition will run from January 15th to March 12th. Fishel will create an in-gallery environment that reflects the artist’s sense of witnessing the growth and the decay involved in the life cycles of plants in “symbolic landscapes” both aquatic and earthly. Fishel’s paintings combine geometric mandala shapes and plant forms that create visual movements filled with emotive color, pattern and textures.

Sharon Fishel is a visual artist who is the Director of the ArtReach Program, an in-gallery and outreach art educational program at the McLean Project for the Arts; a non-profit visual arts center that exhibits the work of emerging and established regional artists. Previously, she worked as the Principal Instructor for the Art Reach Program at The Whitney Museum of American Art (1978-1983). She holds an M.F.A. from Queens College, CUNY, an M.A. from New York University and a B.F.A. from The Hartford Art School at The University of Hartford. Fishel attended The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture 1986 and has exhibited her work extensively in Washington DC., Maryland, Virginia and in New York City. Her work is included in the Artery Collection as well as various private collections in the Mid-Atlantic region.

A reception and artist talk will be held on February 4th, 2023 from 5 pm to 7 pm. Complimentary refreshments will be provided.
