Artist Talk: Wednesday, April 13 at 7pm
Join Hamiltonian on April 13 at 7 pm for an artist talk with Jim Leach on his current exhibition Hot Water. Leach will be in dialogue with Robert Thurmer, Director of The Galleries at Cleveland State University and Chair of the Exhibitions Committee at The Sculpture Center, Cleveland. Thurmer and Leach will discuss the artist’s newest body of work on view in Washington, DC, as well as his concurrent exhibition Being Healthy in Cleveland.
Jim Leach is a sculptor from Cleveland, OH. He unites quotidian, obscure, and forgotten objects into unexpected combinations. Leach manipulates, fabricates, and arranges his divergent materials to forge a visual dialogue that thoughtfully traverses themes philosophy, literature and art history.
Robert Thurmer is the Director and Chief Curator at The Galleries at Cleveland State University, and the Chair of the Board Of Directors at The Sculpture Center, Cleveland. A professor, curator and artist, Thurmer’s main interest is in the ‘idea’ of art as a phenomenon that has its roots in the Western intellectual tradition, and is being transformed in the context of an emergent global culture.
