Lecture: Sunday, March 11 from 2pm to 3pm

The James Renwick Alliance (JRA) brings the world-renowned ceramic artist Chris Antemann to Washington DC for a free lecture at American University Katzen Arts Center on March 11. Chris Antemann’s figurative pieces offer a fascinating telescoping narrative with stories within stories, contemporary commentary layered onto 18th century pieces in traditional forms. Her collaboration with Meissen, the German porcelain factory, has produced a body of work with rich insight into our own culture, a vehicle for the artist’s “twisted tales” about domestic rites, social etiquette and sexual taboos.

Join the JRA for their annual Distinguished Artist Series that brings notable craft artists from around the country to provide insight into their work. The weekend includes a Saturday workshop and a free Sunday public lecture at which the artist will discuss her technique, background, artistic influences, and career, along with her work at Meissen.
