Lecture: Sunday, April 29 at 4pm
Photoworks Gallery in Glen Echo Park has announced their next lecture, “The ABCs of Collecting Photography,” Sunday, April 29, 2018.
In recent decades, photographs have become ubiquitous at museums, galleries, and auction houses. Their variety is expanding, and their value is skyrocketing. For potential buyers, stepping into collecting may seem daunting, and for photographers, offering work up for sale may come with uncertainty. At this event, gallerist Iason Demos will put us all at ease, explaining what one should seek when buying or selling a print. He will cover printing techniques, the value of provenance, signing and numbering works, silver gelatin versus archival pigment prints, gallery versus auction purchases, and re-selling your prints. Iason will also offer works for sale, at various price points, including both classic silver gelatin and modern archival pigment prints. Partial proceeds from all sales will support Photoworks at Glen Echo Park.
This event will take place on Sunday, April 29 at 4pm in Arcade room 302/303.
