Accumulations: Mixed Media Works by Travis Childers
Travis Childers starting point for the creation of his work is everyday materials. Images pulled from newspapers, staplers, pencils, and pen caps. He takes these elements and transforms them into sometimes humorous but always powerful images that are commentaries on human nature and our current times. Accumulations showcases both his 3d sculptural works and 2D collages on canvas and board.
“I use the tape because the tape reminds me of memory. The tape lifts off an image in the same way memory lifts off an image or experience. Tape is also like memory in that it only lifts off part of the image and leaves some behind. It is similar that we don’t remember every detail of something we try to remember.” – Travis Childers
Memories of Home: Paintings by Lisa Noble
Lisa’s paintings are the places of her past and personal history. They represent her efforts to visually map out the context of her childhood and early development. The paintings represent psychological notions of home as well as the conditions of presence and absence. The interior spaces that Lisa portrays are universal images – the kitchen, the den, the bedroom – and can serve as catalyst for each viewers memories of their childhood places.
“I aim to capture a particular memory of things because inherently I understand that they will never be the same again” – Lisa Noble
