Virtual Panel: Wednesday, May 12 at 6pm
The Third Space Network (3SN) along with the Raw Hope Coalition, a committed group of DC-area art spaces, museums, and educational institutions, have been a collective force in connecting diverse communities in response to racial injustice.
The concluding public dialogue in the Raw Hope of Humanity Rising four-part series is DIY Maker Culture, Wednesday, May 12 at 6:00 PM EDT. The panel explores the practice of collective art making, bringing together panelists discussing the cultural and social impact of DIY art spaces from Baltimore to Takoma Park to Anacostia DC.
The panelists include: Laura Cohen, educator at Open Works, Baltimore; Nehemiah Dixon, DIY Artist/Activist and head of Community Engagement at Phillips@THEARC; and Layne Garrett, program director at RhizomeDC. The panel is moderated by 3SN Creative Director Randall Packer.
3SN’s Raw Hope of Humanity Rising series of public dialogues has brought together leading changemakers – from street artists to muralists to Black Lives Matter activists to DIY maker spaces – creating a socially-engaged online community to discuss art for social change and political resistance in times of extreme racial division.
