The 2023 Edgar P. Richardson Symposium, organized around the themes of the exhibition “1898: U.S. Imperial Visions and Revisions” will take place on Sept. 8 and 9 at the National Portrait Gallery. The symposium will convene more than 40 scholars and artists from the Philippines, Guam, Puerto Rico, Hawai‘i, Cuba, Spain and the United States for two days of panels, roundtables and gallery talks. The event will feature seven public panel discussions on various topics, and a public keynote address by 2022 Pulitzer Prize Winner, Ada Ferrer.
