Steven S. Walker, born in Richmond, Virginia and currently living and working in Georgia, creates highly detailed paintings, often characterized by unexpected compositions. Steven’s newest artworks encompass different genres of landscape, incorporating not only traditional landscapes, but cityscapes and nocturnes as well. No matter the genre, light – by either its presence or absence – is the hallmark of these intriguing paintings.

Antonia Walker, who lives and works in Virginia, creates soft, ethereal landscape paintings of the Virginia countryside that reflect not only the natural beauty of her surroundings, but also her technicolor dreams. Hues of pink and orange glow from a sunset, blues and violets bloom in the dusk of the mountains.

These two landscape artists, although with very different styles, both utilize light to capture the essence of their surroundings. Whether serene and emotive paintings of Virginia’s beautiful scenery, or gritty cityscapes and nocturnes, their use of light as an emotive tool is masterful. It peeks from behind clouds, casts upon hills and water, glows brightly in the dark of the city, bringing the viewer closer to the sublime.
