Talk: Saturday, November 19 at 5pm

The Insights program series spotlights an academic perspective of the work currently on view from professionals in academia, curators, historians, and other scholars. Join us on Saturday, November 19 for an Insights program featuring independent curator, art writer, and artist Zoma Wallace, who will respond to What Makes the Earth Shake, the solo exhibition featuring figurative painter Dominic Chambers.

The program will take place in-person at Tephra ICA and will be broadcasted live via Zoom starting at 5:30pm. To join the program via Zoom, click here. Garage parking at Reston Town Center will be free.

Zoma Wallace is an independent curator, art writer, and artist living and working in her hometown of Washington, DC. After earning an MFA in painting from Howard University, she joined the staff of the DC Commission of the Arts & Humanities, becoming the District’s first official curator of fine art in 2009. Since 2019, Zoma has continued a multidisciplinary curatorial practice, collaborating with artists to produce transformative projects, writing critically about their work and process, and moderating discussions that contextualize their work from new points of reference. Furthering her commitment to metropolitan artists especially, she recently served as the President of the Black Artists of DC, a non-profit dedicated to sustaining a thriving community of artists, curators, scholars, and collectors that promotes and validates the contributions of Black artists.
