Talk: Tuesday, July 20 from 6pm to 7pm
On view through August 8.
Mixed media artist Yasmin Bussiere celebrates the beauty of the Central Asian landscape in her exhibit Eastern Light, on view at The Art League Gallery through August 8. Inspired by her memories living and traveling throughout the region, Bussiere’s luminous abstracts are organic, instinctive, and transportive.
“Eastern Light is a path that I’ve been on since living in Uzbekistan and traveling along the Silk Roads,” says the artist. “It was a great opportunity for me to see one of the most amazing parts of the world. It made such a strong impression.”
Radiant shades of gold and silver—colors that are symbolic to the history and civilizations of Central Asia, says Bussiere—illuminate her canvases. In some of the works, she incorporates figurative elements that reference the horses, nomads, and architecture in that part of the world.
Says Bussiere, “I drew inspiration from old cultures dating centuries ago to convey timelessness.” She will be in conversation via Zoom on Tuesday, July 20 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. EDT; register here. You can read more about Bussiere and Eastern Light here.
The Art League is located at 105 North Union Street, Alexandria, VA.
